The Physician Assistant Studies Program at UK was initiated in 1973 and is one of two Physician Assistant programs in the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

We are fully accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), which is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Graduates are eligible to take the Physician Assistant National Certifying Examination. After successful completion of the examination, they are eligible for state certification and licensure to practice as certified physician assistants.

In 1996, the program was extended to include instruction at Morehead State University. Now, 10 dedicated faculty members, two based at Morehead State University, and eight based in Lexington, provide instruction. Each year, an average of 40 students are admitted to the Lexington campus, and 16 to Morehead State site.

Job Description / Responsibilities:

To fill a Clinical Coordinator position at the Morehead Campus the Division of Physician Assistant Studies in the University of Kentucky College of Health Sciences.

  • 12-month, tenure-track, Assistant Professor position with expectations for teaching, research and service
  • Assist the Director of Clinical Education with the coordination and monitoring of all aspects of clinical education of Lexington and Morehead clerkship sites for PAS students

The successful candidate will be responsible to assist the Director of Clinical Education in collaboration with the clinical team to identify, develop, implement, maintain and evaluate clinical sites and preceptors. Preceptor recruitment and participation in end-of- rotation activities are expected. Ideal candidates will have excellent interpersonal communication and organization and marketing skills. Time will be provided for clinical work and professional development.

Qualifications - Required:
  • Graduation from an ARC-PA accredited Physician Assistant (PA) Program
  • Current certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) and eligibility to practice in the Commonwealth of Kentucky
  • Minimum of 3 years healthcare experience as a full-time PA-C
  • Minimum of a Masterís degree in PAS or related health field
  • Strong commitment to fulfill the mission of the PA Program and the College of Health Science
